Templates: Overview

Updated this week

Freed’s Templates feature gives you the ability to customize how your SOAP notes are generated, making documentation faster, more consistent, and better aligned with your personal or clinic workflow.

There are two types of templates available in Freed: Structured Templates and Learned Templates. Understanding the differences—and how to manage each—will help you get the most out of your Freed experience.

Template Types

Structured Templates
Structured Templates are manually built using the Template Builder. They let you control every detail of your notes—from section order and formatting to the inclusion of custom content and prompts. These templates are ideal for clinicians who want consistency and structure, or who work in teams and need shared documentation standards.

Learned Templates
Learned Templates use the Learn Format feature to mimic your preferred formatting. By editing 3-5 example notes and clicking “Learn Format,” Freed will apply that section layout to future notes for the same visit type. These are great for clinicians who prefer flexibility and want the AI to adapt to their natural documentation style with minimal manual setup.
