Template Library: My Library

Updated this week

The Template Library in Freed is your central hub for managing all your custom Structured Templates. Whether you’re creating templates from scratch, editing existing ones, or sharing with your team, the My Library section gives you complete control over how your documentation is structured and shared.

How to Access the Template Library

You can access the Template Library in three ways:

  • Option 1: From the main dashboard
In the bottom-left corner of your Freed screen, you’ll see the “Template Library” option just below your list of processed SOAP notes.

  • Option 2: While viewing a processed note
Click the Template dropdown at the top of the note. At the bottom of the list, you’ll see a link to “Template Library.”

  • Option 3: During Pre-Charting
When selecting a Template before capturing a conversation, click the Template dropdown. At the bottom of the list, you’ll see the option to navigate to the “Template Library.”

Once inside, you can browse:

  • My Library – Your personal Structured Templates

  • Freed Library – Pre-made templates tailored to your specialty

  • Team Library – Shared templates (available only to users on a Group Plan)

Creating a New Template in My Library

To build a Structured Template from scratch:

  1. In the Template Library, select the My Library tab.

  2. Click “+ New Template” in the upper right corner.

  3. Enter a name for your template.

  4. Use the Template Builder to define sections, add or reorder subsections, and customize formatting.

  5. Click Save when finished.

Your new template will appear in My Library and be available when creating or processing notes.

Duplicating and Editing an Existing Template

To quickly make a variation of an existing template:

  1. In My Library, locate the template you want to duplicate.

  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) next to the template.

  3. Select “Duplicate.”

  4. A copy will appear with “Copy” in the title.

  5. Click the three-dot menu on the copy and select “Edit” to customize it in the Template Builder.

  6. Click Save once your edits are complete.

This is useful for creating alternate versions of a commonly used template.

Starring Templates and What It Means

Starring a template marks it as a favorite, bringing it to the top of the Template dropdown list when starting a new visit or editing a processed note.

To star a template:

  1. In My Library, click the star icon next to the template name.

This feature is helpful for prioritizing templates you use most frequently and accessing them quickly without scrolling.

Changing Template Visibility (Sharing to Team Library)

By default, templates are private and only visible to you. However, if you’re on a Group Plan, you can share templates with your team.

To change visibility:

  1. In My Library, click the three-dot menu (⋮) next to the template.

  2. Select “Edit.”

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the Template Builder.

  4. Under Visibility, change the setting from “Only Me” to “Team.”

Note: You can only adjust visibility for Structured Templates that you created and own.

Once shared, the template will appear in the Team Library, making it accessible for your colleagues to use or duplicate.

Deleting a Template from My Library

You can only delete Structured Templates that you have created and own.

Templates added from the Freed Library or Team Library must first be duplicated and made your own before they can be deleted.

To delete a template in My Library, follow one of these two options:

Option 1: From the My Library view

  1. Navigate to the My Library tab in the Template Library.

  2. Locate the template you want to delete.

  3. Click the ellipsis (⋮) next to the template name.

  4. Select “Delete.”

Option 2: From the Template Builder

  1. Click “Edit” next to the template you want to remove.

  2. In the Template Builder, click the red trash icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

  3. Confirm deletion when prompted.

This will permanently remove the template from your My Library and make it unavailable for future use.

Summary

My Library is your space for building, managing, and customizing Structured Templates in Freed. From full template creation to efficient sharing with teammates, the Template Library gives you flexibility and control over your documentation process.

Use Starring to highlight go-to templates, and Visibility settings to collaborate within your team.
