Freed offers two types of templates to help clinicians customize their documentation workflow: Learned Templates and Structured Templates. Both options support efficient, flexible note creation, but they serve different purposes and offer distinct methods of customization.
Learned Templates
Learned Templates allow Freed to adapt to your note style by analyzing how you format your documentation. This feature captures your preferred structure from edited examples and applies it to future notes.
Key Features:
No need to configure subsections or formatting manually
Learns formatting by example from completed notes
Supports nuanced formatting such as spacing, narrative vs. bullet style, and order
When to Use:
Learned Templates are a great choice if you prefer a quick, intuitive way to apply your documentation style without spending time building templates. They are well suited for individual clinicians who value flexibility and a natural writing flow.
Optional: To add special instructions to any section of the note, use square brackets [ ] and follow the instructions to the left
Limitations:
Once you make a change to an example note, it cannot be undone.
Your Learned edits apply only to that specific Learned Template, but this allows you to create unlimited, unique templates for different visit types.
Structured Templates
Structured Templates are created and edited using the Template Builder. They give clinicians precise control over note structure, section layout, and formatting.
Key Features:
Customizable subsections within each note section (e.g., Subjective, Objective)
Ability to add, rearrange, hide, and rename subsections
Support for custom, free text, and predefined content
Adjustable formatting and length settings for each subsection
When to Use:
Structured Templates are ideal if you need consistent, repeatable formatting for a wide range of note types or visit types. They are especially helpful for group practices or clinicians with specific formatting requirements.
Summary
βLearned Templates are ideal for clinicians who want Freed to mimic their documentation style with minimal setup.
Structured Templates are best for clinicians who need detailed control over note structure and formatting.
Selecting the right template type depends on your workflow preferences. You can always switch between template types and test what works best for your clinical documentation needs.
