Freed’s Templates feature gives you the ability to customize how your SOAP notes are generated, making documentation faster, more consistent, and better aligned with your personal or clinic workflow.
There are two types of templates available in Freed: Learned Templates and Structured Templates. Understanding the differences—and how to manage each—will help you get the most out of your Freed experience. Visual indicators such as the blue icon for Structured Templates and the purple icon for Learned Templates help users quickly distinguish between the two.
Template Types
Learned Templates
Learned Templates use the Learn Format feature to create notes based on the edits you've made. This is the quickest and most customizable template option, great for clinicians who prefer flexibility and want the AI to adapt to their natural documentation style with minimal manual setup. Learned Templates are designated with a purple icon and allow for seamless customization of formatting preferences using the 'Learn Format' button, making it easy to adapt Freed's AI to your unique style.
Structured Templates
Structured Templates are manually built using the Template Builder. They let you control the structure and layout of your notes — from section order and formatting to the inclusion of custom content and prompts. These templates are ideal for clinicians who want consistency and structure, or who work in teams and need shared documentation standards. Structured Templates are denoted with a blue icon and, while they allow control over section order and formatting, do not support AI learning or dynamic customization For further details on crafting Structured Templates, explore guides such as 'Editing Subjective or Objective Sections' and customizing subsections to create prompts..
