Freed's Zoom App
Updated this week

We’re thrilled to announce our new Zoom app, designed to make capturing telemedicine encounters easier and more seamless than ever before.

How It Works

1. Add Freed’s Zoom App

Log in to your Freed account, navigate to the Apps tab in Settings, and click "Connect." You’ll be redirected to the Zoom Marketplace—make sure you're signed into the correct Zoom account before adding Freed’s Zoom App.

2. Set Up Permissions

After adding the app, you'll be guided through a quick setup process with two key steps:

  1. Grant permission in Zoom.

  2. Grant permissions in Freed.

Firstly, grant permissions for Freed in Zoom.

Secondly, grant permissions for Zoom in Freed.

Success! You'll see this message once you're successfully connected to Zoom.

Success! If you're successfully connected to your Zoom App, you'll also see this "Connected" message in your Apps List.

3. Host Meetings as Usual

Freed will automatically request to join Zoom meetings you host, acting as a passive participant to capture conversations, labeled "Clinical Notetaker (Freed.ai)." If needed, you can place Freed in the Zoom Waiting Room while obtaining patient consent.

For your first meeting, Zoom will prompt you to "Allow recording." Select "Apply these permissions to all future requests" to streamline the process.

Also, ensure microphone permissions are enabled in your browser.

4. Seamless Note Processing

When you end your Zoom call, Freed will automatically process the encounter in your Freed account. You can then review, edit, and finalize your notes directly within Freed.

Once the note has been processed in Freed, you can follow your usual workflow—add the patient’s name, apply Templates, edit the note, and transfer it to your EHR system. The process remains the same as if you had captured the note directly within Freed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I disconnect Freed from my Zoom account?

To disconnect Freed from Zoom:

  • Go to your Settings: Apps List and click "Disconnect" next to the Zoom App.

  • A pop-up will appear saying "Redirecting to Zoom"—click "Proceed to Zoom."

  • You'll be taken to the Zoom App Marketplace on your "Added Apps" page. Locate the Freed app and click "Remove."

  • Confirm removal by selecting "Remove" in the Remove App pop-up window.

  • Once removed, return to Freed and you’ll now see the "Connect" button available again, confirming that the app has been disconnected.

Can I use Freed in someone else’s Zoom meeting?

Currently, Freed can only join Zoom meetings that you are hosting. You won’t be able to invite your Freed Zoom App into meetings hosted by others. Be sure you’ve completed the setup process and are listed as the host for Freed to work properly.

Why This Matters

We built this app with two key goals in mind:

  1. Simplify Telemedicine
Freed's Zoom app eliminates extra steps in capturing telemedicine encounters. You can focus on your patients while Freed handles the recording and processing.

  2. Use Headphones for Privacy
With Freed capturing the audio directly from the meeting, you can now wear headphones during Zoom telemedicine encounters, enhancing privacy and sound quality.
