How to Prepare Notes in Advance: One-Liner Workflow
Updated over a week ago

Recording a structured one-liner, while optional, improves note quality by providing useful context that increases the accuracy and clarity of the SOAP note. This process also allows providers or assistants to prepare notes in advance, making it easy to resume recording as soon as they enter the room. Here's how to perform this pre-visit workflow:

Step 1) Start a Visit Capture

Open Freed on your device and start recording by clicking the "Capture Conversation" button.

Step 2) Record a One-Liner

Narrate a brief summary of the upcoming visit. Include the patient’s key information:

  • Name

  • Age

  • Gender

  • Relevant medical history

  • Reason for the visit (chief complaint)

Example:
“Mr. John Doe is a 40-year-old male with a history of hypertension and diabetes presenting with a sore throat.”

Step 3) Pause the Recording

After stating the one-liner, pause the recording by clicking the "Pause" button.

Step 4) Label the Note

After selecting Pause, Freed allows you to input the patient’s name or a custom label. This helps you easily identify and resume the correct recording when you start the patient’s appointment. Once you enter the name and select a new patient or from your list of previous patients, click "Confirm Name."

Step 5) Resume When Ready

Once you begin your patient interaction, simply select the correct note from the left-hand menu of All Notes and press "Resume" to continue capturing the conversation. Freed will now use the context from the one-liner to improve note quality and generate a comprehensive SOAP note.
