In addition to capturing a visit in real-time, you can upload a pre-recorded audio file or .txt file of a transcript. This feature offers flexibility, enabling you to create notes from past sessions or pre-recorded conversations.
Upload a Transcript File
You can upload the transcript of a visit that's been recorded, or written in plain text format. Freed accepts multiple audio, video, and text file types — including MP3, MP4, M4A, WAV, AIFF, WebM, AAC, and plain-text (.txt) files. Refer to the in-app file picker for the full list.
Step 1: Use the Upload transcript option
Click the New visit button, just like you would for a live patient session. Enter the patient's name and pronouns.
Instead of pressing the Capture conversation button, click the Upload transcript button (located near the recording controls).
Step 2: Select your file
From your device, select the file of the pre-recorded conversation you want to upload. Most common audio file types are supported (e.g. MP4, MP3, M4A, WAV, AAC, WebM).
For recordings made using the iPhone Voice Memos app, save the file through the Share option into a cloud storage location or the Files app before uploading it to Freed for processing. This ensures compatibility and seamless uploads.
You can upload a .txt file if you have a pre-transcribed conversation that you’d like to process.
You can upload files up to 256 MB in size. A stable internet connection is also required to ensure successful uploads.
Step 3: View and edit your Note
Once the note is processed, you can view and edit it just like any other Freed-generated SOAP note.
Please note that notes generated from plain text files will not contain an accurate visit duration time, as Freed is not able to analyze the duration of a text-based transcript.
What if my visit includes multiple patients?
If you recorded a visit that includes more than one patient and need separate notes for each, you can split the transcript manually and upload each portion as its own visit.
Step 1: Open the visit transcript
Go to the visit in Freed where the notes were generated. Open that visit and scroll to the transcript section so you can see the full text of what was recorded.
Step 2: Split the transcript into separate files
In the transcript, highlight and copy the portion that belongs to the first patient. Paste it into a new document (for example, a Word file or PDF) and save it with that patient's name. Repeat for each patient so you end up with one file per patient.
Step 3: Create new visits in Freed from those files
In Freed, start a new visit for the first patient. Upload the corresponding file into that new visit so Freed can create a separate note. Repeat this process for each remaining patient.
Once complete, you'll have individual visits and notes for each patient instead of a single combined one.
