Connecting Practice Fusion brings your Practice Fusion appointments into your Freed schedule, so you can pick a patient from your day and start a visit without retyping their details. Setup happens once per practice (three steps), then each clinician links their own Practice Fusion provider.
Where to find setup
In the Freed web app, go to Settings → Connections and select the Practice Fusion card. If you don't see it, Practice Fusion isn't enabled for your account yet — contact support. You'll see a status chip there — Not connected, Setup in progress, or Practice connected. Use Check status to refresh.
Step 1 — Request the practice connection
Enter your practice name (if Freed doesn't already have it) and choose Submit request. This tells Freed your practice wants to connect Practice Fusion.
You can withdraw your request any time before your practice is connected if you need to stop setup; your configured EHR is left unchanged and you can request access again later.
Step 2 — Add Freed as a Practice Fusion user
A Practice Fusion administrator for your practice completes these steps:
In Practice Fusion, open Settings → Users and add a user named Freed Integration with the N.P./N.A. role.
Use the email address Freed shows on this step for that new user. There's a Copy email button to make this easier.
Practice Fusion then shows your practice access code. Enter it in Freed's Practice access code field and choose Send access code so Freed can activate the user.
Freed stores the code encrypted and deletes it once your practice is connected.
Step 3 — Freed finishes the setup
Freed accepts the invitation, secures the account, and connects your practice. This usually takes one business day. Use Check status to see updates — there's nothing else to do while you wait.
Step 4 — Link providers
The practice connection alone doesn't bring in appointments. Each clinician who wants their Practice Fusion appointments in Freed needs a provider link.
If you're a practice admin
Go to Settings → Connections → Practice Fusion and use Manage provider links to link your clinicians. Admins who aren't clinicians don't need a provider link of their own — link the clinicians who want their Practice Fusion appointments in Freed.
If you're a clinician linking yourself
Go to Settings → Connections → Practice Fusion.
Pick yourself from the provider list. This list comes from Practice Fusion, so it shows the providers configured in your practice.
Choose Link provider, then Go to schedule.
If no providers are listed for your practice, check with your admin or contact support.
Using your schedule
Once your provider is linked, open Schedule in Freed to see your Practice Fusion appointments for the day. Select an appointment and start the visit — the patient's details come across, so there's nothing to retype. You can still record without an appointment; starting a visit outside your Practice Fusion schedule works as it always has.
Sending notes back to Practice Fusion
Once your note is ready, review it, then push it into Practice Fusion. For section mapping, diagnosis handling, and placement options, see EHR Push for Practice Fusion and EHR Push preferences: choose where your note lands.
Troubleshooting
Some states need Freed support to resolve rather than another attempt from you. Contact support if you see any of these:
"Practice Fusion is not enabled for your account."
"Your Practice Fusion connection is turned off. Contact support to turn it back on."
"Your Practice Fusion connection needs support review. Contact support."
"Your practice already has an EHR connection that support needs to review before Practice Fusion setup can continue. Contact support."
