The dot phrases you rely on in your EHR, now in Freed. Create a shortcut for text you write often, like a procedure note, a milestone-tracking summary, or a common instruction, and type a short code starting with / to drop the full text into your note.
Where to find it
Phrases lives in the Templates section, alongside My library, Team library, and Freed library.
Open Templates from the left-hand menu.
Click Phrases in the library navigation.
How to create a phrase
From the Phrases page, click New phrase.
Shortcut: type the letters and numbers you want to use — the / prefix is added automatically. For example, typing
kneeinjcreates the shortcut/kneeinj.Content: type or paste the full text you want that shortcut to insert.
Click Save.
Shortcuts can only use letters and numbers after the / — no spaces or symbols.
How to use a phrase in a note
Click into your note where you want the text to go.
Type / followed by your shortcut's letters — Freed shows matching phrases as you type.
Use the arrow keys to highlight the one you want, then press Enter to insert it.
Managing your phrases
From the Phrases page, click the ⋯ menu next to any phrase to:
Edit — update the shortcut or content.
Archive — remove it from your list and autocomplete suggestions.

Which plans have access to Phrases?
Phrases is available on Premier and Groups plans, on the web version of Freed.
Can I use Phrases on my phone app or the Chrome extension?
Not currently — Phrases is only available on the web version of Freed.
Is there a limit to how many phrases I can create?
No , you can create as many phrases as you'd like.
Can a phrase insert anything other than text, like an image or checklist?
Not yet; phrases are text only.
Can I share my phrases with my group or team?
Not directly; phrases are specific to your own account. If a teammate wants the same shortcut, they'll need to create their own version of it.
Does this work with Dictate to Edit?
Yes, you can dictate into your note and insert phrases in the same editing pass, giving you fewer keystrokes and more consistent wording. See Dictate to Edit to learn more.
