Talk, don't type. A mic button at the top of your note lets you add detail by speaking — the text lands wherever your cursor is, so you can dictate into any part of the note.
Where to find it
The dictation mic button sits at the top of the note, next to the Resume button. Because it's at the top rather than tied to one section, you can click anywhere in the note and dictate into that spot.
Open a note.
Click your cursor where you want the text to go.
Click the mic button at the top of the note, next to Resume.
Speak — your words are added at the cursor.
Why use it
Not every device has built-in dictation, and not everyone knows theirs exists. Dictate to Edit puts voice input right inside Freed, so you can add a detail to a note by speaking without setting up or switching to a separate tool. It's most useful if your device doesn't have its own dictation (for example, non-Mac users) or if you didn't know that feature existed.
Good to know
Works much like the dictation built into macOS — it's a convenience for adding detail by voice, not a transcription-quality or medical-terminology upgrade over your device's standard dictation.
This is separate from the mic button in the AI chat, which dictates into the chat window. Dictate to Edit inserts text directly into the note instead.
No AI processing or restructuring happens after dictation — it simply adds what you said, as said.
