Access Trash & Note Retention Settings

How to view trashed notes and how to manage if notes are trashed automatically.

Updated this week

This guide is intended to help you understand the delete/trash settings for your Freed notes.

Freed allows users to choose whether they want their notes retained indefinitely or deleted after 30 days. This preference can be adjusted in your Account Settings.

Any note manually moved to the Trash is held in your Trash for 7 days before being automatically and permanently deleted.

How to access and restore a note from the trash:

If you manually move a note to the Trash, it will remain there for 7 days before it is automatically and permanently deleted.

Step 1: Access trashed notes

Click the All Notes dropdown on the left sidebar. Click Trash in order to view all notes that have been moved to the trash.

Step 2: Restore a note

Click on the recycle icon to move a note out of the trash, and back into your All Notes view.

How to manage note retention settings:

Freed allows users to decide whether their notes should be retained indefinitely or deleted after 30 days. You can customize this preference in your Note Settings.

Step 1: Navigate to Settings

Click the profile icon in the upper right corner, then click Settings.

Step 2: Click the Note settings tab

Near the top of the page, click the Note tab.

Step 3: Adjust Note Storage

At the bottom of the page, click the toggle to enable or disable automatic deletion after 30 days.

  • If this is enabled, notes will automatically be permanently deleted 30 days from the initial visit capture.

  • If this is disabled, notes will remain in your account indefinitely and can only be deleted by being moved to the trash.
